M.A.B.A.S. (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) Division 19 was "born" on October 20, 1994. There were seven charter fire agencies in M.A.B.A.S. 19: Frankfort, Homer, Manhattan, Mokena, New Lenox, Northwest Homer, and Orland Fire Districts. Since 1994, East Joliet, Elwood, Lockport Township, Palos, Palos Heights, and Peotone Fire Districts, have joined M.A.B.A.S. Division 19. These thirteen fire agencies have requested box alarms (mutual aid assistance) for structure fires, brush fires, rescue and emergency medical incidents, hazardous materials incidents, confined space, and disaster incidents. M.A.B.A.S. Division 19 is a progressive organization, built on a foundation of solid working relationships, open communications, and a commitment to share resources to the benefit of the member agencies and public at large.
